My Cross Country Team

Bratttleboro Cross Country

@ New England Championships

Cross Country is like track and field; almost everyone on the cross country (xc) team is also on the track team. In cross country we run 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) across different terrain. Sometimes we run on dirt, grass, pavement, track, snow, hills, flat, or a combination of many of them. It is very tiring; I have temporarily lost my vision during or after a race more than once. Cross Country teams can have an unlimited amount or runners but only the first 7 runners times count. A runner gets the same amount of points as the place they finished. The goal is to be the team with the lowest number of points for their top 7 runners. The boys and girls teams do not race together but they do practice together.

Most of the team members are good friends.

My two years of running on the team are coming to an end but I will enjoy following the progress of my teamates who are not graduating this year.

Our coach Mr. Dimick, Joe, and me before leaving for the New England Championships. Mr. Dimick is a good coach and he was a remarkable runner. He ran a 2:11 marathon around 20 years ago which is only about 6 minutes off of the world record.
